It was announced today that Invico Capital Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Allison Taylor, and President, Jason Brooks, are the proud recipients of the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business 2022 Management Alumni Excellence Award.
The Haskayne School of Business recognizes the contributions of its alums in three key areas of accomplishment: Management Alumni Excellence Award, Rising Star Award, and Big Ideas Bold Leaders Award. The Management Alumni Excellence Award is the highest honour issued by the school. It acknowledges the outstanding success of Haskayne alums at the peak of their careers, including their personal and professional achievements and extraordinary service to the school and community.
When selecting the recipient of this award, a committee carefully considers the values of leadership, commitment, excellence, integrity, and service. Candidates are evaluated on the areas of innovation and industry change, advocacy for higher education, service to UCalgary and the Haskayne School of Business, and contributions to the community. Former recipients of the Management Alumni Excellence Award have included CEOs and Presidents of some of Alberta’s most powerful and influential organizations.
As the CEO of Invico Capital Corporation, a Calgary-based investment fund management firm, Allison provides strategic oversight on all investment, compliance, and accounting functions and graduated from Haskayne with an MBA in Finance. As the President of Invico, Jason is responsible for structuring complex funding for small and medium-sized businesses on behalf of the firm’s managed service offerings and graduated from Haskayne with an honours Bachelor of Commerce. Together, they have helped grow the firm’s assets under management to over $2.0 billion since 2005 and now serve as trailblazers by employing a diverse workforce that is majority female and extending professional opportunities to immigrants. They have also worked tirelessly to provide accessibility for everyday investors to access niche investment opportunities for wealth management.
In addition to their business success, Allison and Jason have also made an impact on the University of Calgary and Haskayne School of Business, as well as the broader community. Allison is a long-standing member of the Investment Committee at the University of Calgary and has spoken at several events hosted by the University of Calgary’s Women in Business (WiB) and Women in Finance (WiF) student chapters. Jason has served on the Board of Directors of Central European Petroleum (CEP) Ltd., a Calgary-based petroleum exploration and production company, and the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA). Invico offers several summer student positions annually and has helped provide part-time and full-time internship and employment opportunities to current or recently graduated students from the University of Calgary and other local institutions.
Finally, Allison and Jason have donated to various local and national charities and recently established a charitable donation program for employees of Invico. Together, the duo made a substantial donation to the Haskayne Capital Expansion Project, which has overseen the construction of a new hall (Mathison Hall) and improvements to the existing Scurfield Hall. With eleven new innovative and technology-enhanced classrooms, the project will conclude next month and help serve generations of students for decades to come.
